Some birthday a little later

 A couple of days later and a lot less fever, we decided to commence the birthday party again.

She was in a much better mood.  My back is aching from having to carry and hold her for about 4 days straight.  

We finished opening her presents.  She's playing with some princess dolls from Aunt Janice.  She's holding a key fob from Uncle Andy and Aunt Lynn.  This is perfect for her.  She LOVES to push buttons.  Daddy was less than thrilled when she learned to push the buttons on his computer and turned it off while he was working.  

This is the box for her new house from Nana and Grandave.  It was a little big.  She was excited when it was in the box.

Daddy says she got everything she needs.  She received a new house and new wheels, what more does a girl need.

Her brothers enjoy playing in the house with her.  It's fun having some girly toys in the house.

She was supposed to have her one year old checkup, but she was sick.  I will get all her stats some time next week.

Not the 1st birthday we planned

The sweet girl was sick on her birthday.  In fact, W also awoke with an ear infection.  And daddy was out of town.  It was not a good day for anybody. 

 We postponed the party to the weekend; however, she ran a 102 fever for 2 days.  By Friday night, she was only running a 100 degree fever so we decided to have the party. 

Here's the girl all decked out for the festivities.  

Here's her #1 cake.  I usually plan the party meal around what the kids like, but she doesn't really eat any table food except french fries.  I decided to not have a dinner around french fries.  Anyhow, she didn't feel like eating much.  She nibbled a little yogurt and that was enough for her.

I was optimistic that she might like the cake, but alas she threw it on the floor.  She is a picky eater and she did not feel well so the deck was stacked against the cake.  Oh well!  The rest of us enjoyed the strawberry cake made from our fresh picked berries.

The boys bought her a baby doll.  She loves this doll.  Her face lights up when she plays with it.  After this, she started to have a meltdown.  We called the party over and put her to bed at 6:30pm.  We will have to continue the festivities another day.  

Thankfully, she felt much better by Saturday.  Her appetite is still lacking, but we are on the mend.

Fredericksburg Field Trip

We spent a day in Fredericksburg on a field trip.  Our first stop was to go strawberry picking.  It was a little brisk that morning, but there was a good crop of berries.

We picked 14 pounds of strawberries.  The boys did great, especially J.  I had to give up picking after awhile.  Trying to squat with 20 pounds strapped to the front of me became a little uncomfortable.  

After berry picking, we headed into town to The Museum of the Pacific War.  It's a museum dedicated solely to the pacific portion of World War II.  J has been studying WWII so it was a great museum to see.

Admiral Chester Nimitz was also from Fredericksburg, TX so there was a section devoted to his life.  He shares a birthday with J.  He found that amusing.

Of course, the boys all found the artillery displays to be the most interesting.

J did all the photography in the museum.  I couldn't handle the baby and the camera.  He did a good job.  

It was a wonderful museum.

We should return sometime with just J.  W and S lost interest after about an hour.  J commented that you could spend a long time in that museum.  That's an understatement.  We walked quickly through the end parts.  I think it helped to cement the topics we had been learning.  

There's was a whole section we didn't even make it to.  We enjoyed the Presidents' Garden.  They paid tribute to all the US Presidents who took part in WWII.  It was a great visual for the kids.  We had a good day!  Looking forward to returning some day.

It's soccer time!

The boys started spring soccer season.  Our weather has been all over the chart lately.  It was pretty cool and windy when we arrived at the field on early Saturday morning.  It took some convincing and extra layers of clothing to convince W to play.  Once he got moving, he was alright.

He has finally got the hang of defense.  He is not afraid to get in there and attack the ball.  He is very good at clearing the ball or getting it out of scoring territory.  He keeps improving each season.  He has some really good coaches this season.

Here's the little cutie trying to stay warm.  In her short life, this is her 3rd soccer season.

J is playing goalie again.  It's hard to get an action shot of him, because he does a lot of standing and a few seconds of movement.  He had a good game.  He stopped a few and a few got past him.  His goal kick is improving this year.  

S was the third game and we had to convince him to play.  He loves to play, but I think he was tired of being at the field.  He is the biggest kid on his team and has a pretty strong kick.  He and W have the same coach.

He loves to get in there and mix it up with the other boys.

We are looking forward to a great season.  Just need to remember to bring a warm blanket next week.  Although, it could easily be 85 degrees next week.  Our crazy weather!

Eleven months

Miss K is now eleven months.  I can't believe it's almost her first birthday.  She has 4 teeth.  One is on the top, and three on the bottom.  She looks a little funny with one tooth on the top.

We haven't progressed much in the food department.  She has started the chewing motion, but is still gagging  on most table food.  We did discover these "baby Cheetos".  Gerber makes these cheese snacks for babies. She loves them, and it has encouraged her to chew more.

I offer her all sorts of diced fruits and veggies.  She usually throws them on the floor or tries to eat them and gags on them.  However, she will eat all sorts of junk off the floor such as lint, rocks, paper, etc.  Daddy did try throwing peas on the floor to see if she would eat them, but it didn't work.  Oh well!

She is crawling all over the house now.  She tried to crawl out of the bathtub.  She pulls up on everything, including things she shouldn't which causes some accidents.  She has some cuts and bruises on her knees from crawling outside, which is one of her favorite places to be.  

Easter 2013

Here's my sweet family on Easter morning!  

They all looked so handsome and pretty!  Miss K did very well in her dress.  It's about ankle length, but she managed to crawl around in it just fine.

We were all well for Easter Sunday.  We had one kid sick 2 days before, and now the other two are sick 2 days after.  

We hunted eggs on Saturday as the forecast called for rain. It did rain heavily for a time. 

The hunt was successful with little intervention from dad and mom.  Sometimes, we have to step in to even the egg count, but it went really well.  

They each had some specifically labeled eggs that I hid.  I stumped J really well.  He had a hard time finding his special eggs.

Miss K was thrilled with her empty carrot egg from a big brother.  She really is this happy most of the time.
