Books

Our local library finally re-opened after a year's worth of renovations.  The boys have been dying to go.  We went the other day after school and this is what I found in their room a little while later.

This makes me proud.  They love to read.  W tried to read a book and ride a bike at the same time the other day.  That maybe taking it a little far, but I am so glad they share in my love for books.

We watched the "Swiss Family Robinson" Disney movie the other night.  The boys loved it!  J exclaims, "We have that book!"  All 3 boys spent a good while looking over the book.

They look forward to book time with Dad every night!  Here they are reading their new favorite library book called The Buccaneer Bunnies.  They find it hilarious. Yeah for books!

Happy Mother's Day

We are blessed to have some wonderful mothers in both of our lives.

Loving women.  Wise women.  Tremendous grandmothers.

Praying women.  Followers of Christ.  Great examples to follow.

Always there for you.

Happy Mother's Day!

Kindergarten graduation

W had his Kindergarten graduation.  They had it early and then finish up the last 2 weeks of school.

They had been working on a play for weeks.  He was the Yellow Indian Chief.  He loved his role!  Lots of running around barefoot whooping and hollering.  What's not to like?

All the kids did well with the play.  It was not short and they did great remembering their lines and cues.

Here's a shot of W and me in his cap and gown.  This was no ordinary graduation.  The Captain remarked that it was fancier and more involved than his graduation from college.  There were slideshows, the play, and a dinner.  We definitely got our money's worth at school this year!  It's been a great place for W to be this year.

I just had to include this picture, because of S.  This kid is quite the ham.  Every picture we took that night had him making some strange face.

K did good.  She slept or sucked on a pacifier most of the night.  We were impressed because it was not quiet there.

Now on to first grade...

AWANA graduation

All the boys finished up AWANA last week.  Here's Crash finishing his first year in Sparks.  He completed his first book.  They complete their books by memorizing Bible verses each week.

Here's J with his book award.  That boy has a knack for memorizing.

S finished his first book in Cubbies.  He was a very enthusiastic Cubbie all year.

Way to go boys!  They did a great job.

Sunday best

Here's Miss K in her Sunday best.  I just LOVE this outfit.  It's purple and girly and very low maintenance.

She is just beautiful in my totally unbiased opinion.

She had another well baby check up today.  She is 10 lbs 1oz and 19.5 inches long.  That puts her in the 95th percentile.  We grow them big around here.  She continues to be a sweet-natured girl as long as your feed her when she wants to be fed.

What a sweet blessing!

Tummy time and other stuff

S was wondering why I put K on her stomach.  He thought it was funny that she needed to have tummy time.  He stayed right by her the whole time and talked to her.

She is such a good natured baby so far.  Except when you try to change her diaper.  She really doesn't appreciate that.  Other than one rough night, she is doing well at night.  She eats every 3-4 hours.  Don't get me wrong, I am seriously sleep deprived, but compared to some of my other babies she is a dream.

She does prefer to sleep in her vibrating bouncer just like her brothers.  Although I am not stressing about it this go around.  I know that eventually they all do learn to sleep in their cribs, but for now this is what works.

She loves to be swaddled.  If she starts to get fussy, we just wrap her up and she calms down.  I love those Swaddleme blankets.  Best invention ever!

The boys love their little sister although they are a little bummed that she sleeps so much.  I think they expected her to be able to play with legos right out of the womb.  In due time.

Homeschool presentation night

Last week was homeschool presentation night.  J presented a memorized speech that he wrote (with some editing from mom) on insects.  He also free built 3 lego models of a queen bee, a dragonfly, and a worker ant.

He did great!  His ability to memorize is quite astounding.  Public speaking does not fluster him at all.

Here's all the presenters.  They all did a great job with their various talents and gifts.  It is such a joy to be around all these kids and their families.
