He's soooo like his mother

Yesterday, I was able to do a drop-in for Wingman at Crash's pre-school. (Essentially, they knew someone would be out so I could leave Wingman there for the day.)

Since I was kid-less for a few hours I decided to go have lunch with the test pilot at his school. When I told him I would not be bringing his brothers and told him where they were this is what he replies.

Test pilot: You are sending Wingman to pre-school? Mom, will he behave there?

What six year old wonders these things? He is so my kid. I did assure him that Wingman would not be in "school" but just playing for a few hours. The test pilot was ok with that plan.

I miss scrubs

I worked this past Saturday and it reminded me that I miss wearing scrubs everyday. Scrubs have come along way in the past few years. Isn't that a cute top.

Scrubs are very comfortable. You looked pulled together without trying. They do NOT wrinkle even if you left them in the dryer all weekend. I could actually dry the pants without worrying about shrinkage. They are relatively cheap compared to other clothing. I didn't have to think too hard about what to wear everyday.

I suppose I could wear scrubs around the house but that just seems silly. Maybe I could have housewife scrubs...

Zoo Field Trip

Yesterday was the kindergarten field trip to the big city Zoo. There has been much anticipation about this day. I had been planning to go for months. It was so worth it. The test pilot told me he loved me about 7 times on the trip down. I think he enjoyed having his mom there.

Here he is on the bus. This was his first bus ride so it was pretty exciting for him. Not so much for me, but I got to sit next to the sweetest boy during the trip. (He talked about legos the WHOLE time.)

There were enough parents that they assigned us each 3 children and we were free to roam the zoo on our own. That was a great idea. We could see what each kid wanted. I had a great group of boys.

The boy in the hat was the best snake finder. You know how you go look at the reptile exhibits but are unable to find any life forms. Well, that boy could find them. It was most impressive.

We hadn't been there five minutes when they all decided that they were hungry. Who eats lunch at 10:30am? Apparently, the public schools do. We munched our lunches then off to see lots of exhibits.

That was the first time I have to the zoo without a stroller. That was sure nice. It was such a fun day. I am so glad I got to spend it with the test pilot.

Something new

A few things are different since I came back home. Crash has started pre-school. He attends a local church two mornings a week. Here he is with his "pack-pack" going to school.

The Captain thought it would be beneficial for Crash and I to have a little time apart. Two stubborn people together for long periods of time can get a little stressful. It really has been quite helpful. He seems to enjoy it. I have time to clean house and grocery shop with only one kid which has made me a happier mommy.

Easter 2009

Here's a few pictures from before church. Aren't these the most handsome men you have ever seen?

This picture is right before Wing man spits up on my dress. Yeah!

We had beautiful weather that day for a great egg hunt in the back yard. That boy is so tall!

Can you tell that this one loves to have his picture taken especially when he would rather be finding eggs?

Wingman mostly played with soccer balls and was very content. He was very excited when he discovered the eggs have goodies in them. His were packed with honey nut cheerios.

Hope you all had a blessed Easter!

If only...

If Wingman had been a first born his life would be so different, but God saw fit to make him a 3rd born with a much less neurotic mom. (I was super neurotic when we just had the test pilot.)

For instance, someone would care that the baby eats off the floor. He regularly gets down from his high chair and enjoys his fallen bits of dinner. I used to cringe and scold, but now I am grateful I have to sweep less often.

We went to an outside playgroup yesterday and his negligent mother allowed his nose and forehead to sunburn. I used to be so compulsive about sunscreen, but it didn't even cross my mind. Luckily, he's just a little pink. Where have I gone wrong?

I used to refuse to eat out at restaurants that didn't have proper healthy kids meals like vegetables for sides. I noticed we now regularly have fries for our side, and my blood pressure isn't going through the roof at the idea of poisoning my children.
I didn't allow my children to crawl a great deal outside of our home for fear of the germs that would be getting on their hands and legs. We would just carry them. Wing man has crawled all over the place. The Captain even let him crawl around the automotive repair shop waiting room
while waiting on the car to be fixed. I am going to try not to think about that one too long. We just make sure he gets a good bath every night.
What has happened? I am not saying there will be a fourth child, but can you imagine what he would be allowed to do?

May the force be with you

Movie night as taken on a life of it's own. We simply can not watch a movie without heaping bowls of popcorn.

The captain declares that the boys are much more obedient with bath time on movie night especially when it's Star Wars we are going to watch.

We finally decided it was ok for them to watch Star Wars. The test pilot has all sorts of Star Wars stuff but hadn't seen any of the movies. I was worried they would be scared. I was mistaken.

We have to have a light saber battle every time there's one in the movie. Any time someone is hurt or killed in the movie Crash says, "Are you ok?" It's pretty cute. Crash will then drag out their Clone Trooper helmets for the rest of the movie.

They've seen Star Wars and the Empire Strikes Back. This weekend it's on to Return of the Jedi with a little fast forwarding through Princess Leia's questionable outfit scenes. (I pulled the mom card.)
Oh how they love it! I have to say I enjoy watching this much better than Dumbo any day for family movie night. I am more of an action adventure type girl than Disney lover.
