Science project

Test pilot is studying astronomy for science this year. One of the first projects was to build a scale model of the solar system. I gladly passed this assignment on to the Captain. They spent about 2 hours building it.

Here's the sun and the closer in planets until Saturn.

Here's the further out planets including Venus, Uranus, and Pluto. He loves this stuff.

The curriculum is Christian based that we have enjoyed using. Currently, he is working on a speech about why you should not look at the sun.

Fall soccer

Soccer season has begun again. Test pilot is playing on Team Arrow. There's a kid on his team who is a little taller than him plus 5 kids about 6 inches shorter. It's the giants and the not so giants. They are all the same age which is the funny part.

He's having lots of fun. He still prefers to play the positions that don't require as much running.

Crash is having a great season. Go Toros! We have a great coach, which is erasing bad memories from last spring. He scored a goal the first game. He generally just loves to run around out there.

When we went to buy soccer cleats, he insisted on these white cleats. I think he is the only kid out there with white cleats, but he loves them. I guess he knew that his team colors were going to be black and white.

More than half of their games are at the same time. We try to trade off fields at half time or every other weekend. It does make for a shorter time at the field.

Go Diego Go!

Wingman has discovered Go Diego Go! Recently, he started watching the cartoons we have on DVD. He has always been an animal lover so it was an easy match.

If you are not informed on preschool cartoons, I will give you a short version. There's a boy named Diego who must save all sorts of interesting wildlife in the jungle each episode such as baby jaguars, fish, dolphin, and marmosets. He loves it!

Last weekend, I was putting up summer clothes and digging through boxes of clothes for fall/winter items. I discovered these Diego pajamas in one of the boxes.

He wore them for 2 straight days. He has worn them every night. I did put my foot down and he can't wear them to school or church. He tries to put up a fight. He is so excited to put them on after bath time.

The excursion

My favorite part of the cruise was our excursion day. We went on an "adventure" excursion. We started by taking a speed boat ride out to the remote tip of Cozumel.

We were at this secluded with beach with just our group and our guides. First, we began by kayaking around the island. It's a lot harder to do than it looks. It was fun and the water was so blue and beautiful.

The snorkeling was wonderful. We had not done that since our honeymoon. We saw stingrays, fish, lobsters, and eels.

Also, just like our honeymoon I got sunburned on my back while snorkeling after applying 70SPF sunscreen. I have the fairest skin.

After we were done with our activities, they had the most amazing lunch for our group in our cabana. It was chicken and mexican rice and beans. We had lunch on the beach. It was so awesome! Made more awesome by the fact that we just spent two hours snorkeling and kayaking.

I would highly recommend that. Can't wait to do it again.

*Can I just say how amazed I was at the number of people who PAID a decent amount of money to do this excursion only to arrive at the beach and just sit there. They turned down the kayaking, snorkeling, and everything to just sit there. The activities were as advertised. Go figure!

Anniversary Cruise

In my new true fashion, I am posting these waaaay late.

We took our 10th anniversary cruise in our 11th year of marriage. That's just the way it works between lay offs. We went on a 4 day cruise to Cozumel, Mexico.

I really did not know what to expect. I love the camera guys that just follow you around the whole trip and photograph every moment. I need one of those in real life. I am just not good at capturing all those moments. Most of these pictures are courtesy of some other guy.

Here's us on "fancy" night. I liked fancy night. I went to the salon and got my hair done. I think she put 400 bobby pins in my hair. My scalp was sore later, but it looked lovely.

Like home, I was amazed at how some people's definition of formal night includes jeans and a t-shirt.

This is a picture of the cute folded towel animals that greeted us every night after turn down service. We had a different animal every night. There was even a class one day on how to fold these. I passed on that.

We had lots of fun. It was great to sleep in and not have to work, cook, or clean. We went to the gym everyday, took naps, read books on the Serenity deck, ate good food, and had lots of relaxing time.

Edit: As I was proofreading this post, Wingman saw it. He stated, There's mama and she's pretty! My sweet boy! Then he sees daddy and says, "Daddy's not pretty. He's a boy."

Muffins

My boys love muffins for breakfast. They love blueberry, apple, banana, and strawberry muffins. That has been something they eat at least twice a week in our house. I usually make them the night before and store them in the refrigerator so they are ready for breakfast. I don't even bother to re-heat them. It's just how we've done it.

Little did I know I was warping my children.

I have been working a lot lately. When I get home I am exhausted and definitely too tired to bake muffins. This week I had 2 days off in a row this week.

I was feeling a little energetic the 2nd morning so I decided to make fresh, warm blueberry muffins for breakfast.

The boys were excited for muffins as they had not seen them for almost a month. As they ate, I started noticing some funny looks on their faces. (They are not allowed to complain about food on the table.)

I finally asked them what the matter was. Two out of 3 children stated that the muffins tasted weird. The berries were runny and the muffin was just mushy. We quickly realized that they were complaining about the fact that the muffins were warm and delicious and not cold and less than delicious.

Go figure!

The second morning they had cold blueberry muffins and all was right with the world.

Job update

Well, we (by we I mean the Captain but it feels like we) received a phone call from the Jet company. That want to schedule an in person interview. He flies out next Tuesday for a late interview Tuesday interview and returns home Wednesday.

We are thankful they called and thankful that something is being done.

I am a little bitter. I feel like we have been lied to on many occasions as to what is going on. He was told he had the job. Why do an in person interview now? Why did this take 6 weeks for them to decide this?

I do take solace in knowing that God has a reason and a purpose for this. I have no idea what that is. It makes me a tad angry trying to figure it out so I won't. God has provided for us this far and I know he will continue to.
